about the find:

Adverts in books, eh. never thought I'd see the day.
In fact I didn't see the day, because this book is from 1944!

My favourite line?

"Zoning now constricts Mars to the southern counties so here's hoping for quick victory - and plenty of Mars for everyone"

tally ho, lads!

responses:

damn right, mars bars for nourishment!

Were Mars and Cadbury once the same company then? Or is this two adverts in one book? (It doesn't take much to confuse me!)

I love the naivety of these old adverts! :)

also note the basic lack of grammar: surely it should say "only the finest ingredients *are* good enough for Mars" ?

I have yet to find a book that has advertisment like that in it.
